Honestly, we are ourselves quite confused. We like the idea of being treated equally (with men) but somewhere it bothers us if we don’ get the special treatment. We like to be the boss, but we want someone to handle us. We want the best of all worlds, but are too apprehensive about almost everything. What Women Want is like metaphysical reasoning – beyond all contemplation.
I was watching Bridesmaids last night and the movie got me cracking up in the most obnoxious of scenes! Though somewhere I could relate to almost all the characters in the plot. All women, of course! We are all, almost the same and I guess that’s what scares us. I guess that’s why we work with men better than we work with women – because with women, we can see through each other’s flaws.
With men, it’s easy. They are mostly direct, sometimes a little too direct. We make them think we’re cool – but hell we’re not! Not only do we hear (keenly) what they are saying, we also observe the tone, the gestures, the mood you say things in. Sometimes, a simple I Love You isn’t enough – coz we want them to *mean* it. Not sure how that works, really. It’s funny because as much as I like to think I am cool, in reality, I am not cool with half the things.
I will turn 27 this month and it feels so weird to be tipping towards the three ‘O’ so quickly. It was just yesterday when I would slip into my mommy’s heels and think to myself, “when I grow up, I am going to be a teacher”. Whatever happened to that! When we are young, we want to grow up, and drive the car and earn money and find a man – we want to dress up like grown ups and act all cool. And now, when we’re old enough to do all of that, we want to go back to school, and take lessons and have crushes. When we were at that age, we couldn’t wait to grow up and make our own decisions, and now when we’re here, we would give anything to swap our lives.
We are so perfectly flawed, you know what I mean? We women are seriously Weird…
Anyway, dull Saturday morning… yawn…
