Guess what? The band did not perform songs like ‘Crazy’ & ‘Hole in my soul’!!! I mean, really??
The most talked about concert finally took place on Saturday. Aerosmith performed in Palace Grounds on a very pleasant evening. They came, they rocked and they left… Left behind some fans going crazy, some unsatisfied and some cribbing! I am not a die-hard Aerosmith fan. I think they’re loud but while I saw them perform live, they sounded even louder (thanks to the weird sound systems!!) Joe Perry is without a doubt a brilliant guitarist, but the sound of his guitar was so jarring that I could hardly hear the song!
What was really unfair was the demarkation of the 1200 rupee ticket area from that of the 1800 rupee ticket area. I went in for a 1200 ticket and trust me I could hardly see the guys! On top of that, a huge massive screen blocking our view of the stage completely! Ugghh!! We were *really* far away from the stage. I mean, for a difference of 600 rupees, you cannot treat the fans like shit! We can’t see the damn stage, we can’t see them perform, our yelling makes no sense coz our voice will *not* reach them!
But all-in-all, it was a nice concert. Maybe I enjoyed it more because of the people I was with
And also maybe because it was my first concert ever! Though I would have loved to go for a Floyd’s as my first concert but that’s okay…
And then of course!! Treat for the auto guys! 250-300 bucks to get home from Palace Grounds?? You kidding me??
But you know what? As Steven Tyler performed like an energy ball on the stage and drove the crowd mad with the ‘Lick Me’ on his abdomen, I just kept laughing to myself thinking how people can go crazy. It’s a nice thought. That one passion, that one guy, that one song can drive thousands of us mad. Joe Perry is something else! He is awe-fuckin-some! I am completely bowled over by that guy. Tyler for his energy and Perry for sustaining the right chords even as he abused the crap out of his guitar. It was just superb!
Also the fact that a very beautiful moon shone from behind the clouds, as if they were all an audience to the loud but entertaining show! Thank God for the weather that day!!
Ooh, their opening song was ‘Tastes of India’, nice track. What was really funny was when he started singing songs from his soon-to-be-released album, everyone looked around puzzled and confused. It was so funny!! Nobody wanted to accept that they didn’t know songs of the guys whose concert they’d come for, but nobody could sing along either. I cracked up so much!
All said and done, and after all the ‘not done!’ too, I loved each and every moment of it. It was all worth it. I am glad I went. Would want to go for another too. Though if I buy the cheaper tickets for a David Gilmour or a U2 concert, the fan in me will definately die of guilt.
Though I have to say this, given the fact that I do not enjoy loud music, Aerosmith were really good!
Youre thinkin so complicated
Ive had it all up to here
But its so overrated
Love and hate it
Wouldnt trade it
Love me jaded…
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!
